What’s on my mind today…

… is this lunch bag.
Lunch bags - blue

A friend called up today to ask if I can make her 3 kids each one of this bag.

The good thing is, she will provide the fabric! But I have to wait, because she just bought them from etsy, and is waiting for them to arrive at her door *fingers cross* in two weeks time!

Lunch bags

I adore these lunch bags. They take time to make, because much measuring and cutting is needed. However, ones the cutting is done the sewing is easy peasy!

Say HELLO to Scout my handsome Labrador.

It is his habit every night that he waits for me on that exact spot to “go to his room” upstairs for the night. And being a dog, he is conditioned to do so at precisely the same time each night. The problem… I don’t go to bed the same time every night ūüėõ So, he conditioned himself to wait for me there should I choose to go to bed later than 10pm.

And most of the time, he will be snoring away on the stairway!

Sleepy Scout.

Updates & DIY revamp billy’s door

Yo! How is our Sunday far?

For my friends in the other continent (America), a continent which I have never treaded foot on… you must still be in bed. Whereby here in Kuala Lumpur, it’s 2pm 4th March 2012, at it’s almost the end of my afternoon.

Today, I made some changes to Whimsy Loft’s facebook page. Well, I created a new one, and thank you to those who have “Liked” the old page, can you please go and “like” the new page ? It’s at the right hand top of your screen. Thank you very much <3 <3 *BIG hugsssss*****

My¬†sister is busy spring cleaning her room, it’s the 3rd day she is at it now, so¬†you can only imagine how much “rubbish” she has… or perhaps how¬†slow a worker¬†she is .. hehe..¬†So I¬†was influenced by her to¬†do some DIY change¬†at my home.

I targetted our Ikea Billy book shelves in the dining room.

Many years ago, I bought this¬†shelves with the idea to put family photos on the doors. However, I never got to it, and it has remained white and dull… so to spark our dining area, I decided to cut up some of my very precious fabric and use it to decorate the doors.

Here’s how I did it… step by step (well, almost!):

Remove the laminated board that was behind the glass door. See, you can see the mess in the cupboard after I remove the laminated board for one door.

Measure and cut the size of the cloth, leave just enough at the sides (about 1.5 inch) to fold in.

I choosed my nice nesting doll fabric. Unfortunately, only had 1 metre of this fabric, so I use 2 different pattern fabric. You will see later.

I use double sided tape to hold the cloth.

In order to ensure the folded part of the fabric don’t fray (and that I don’t have to fold twice or sew the seams), I use my fabric mod podge to “kill” the frays. I like it, because it’s not visible, nor is it a permanent glue, but it holds well.

So, after all complete, assemble the now very cute fabric covered laminated board back onto the glass doors…

and ta da!!!

p/s: same steps for the green apple tree fabric, no need to sew them to the nesting doll fabric, just paste with double sided tape. Also make sure you iron the fabric so that the creases are not visible.

Can you spot the cream coloured dog sleeping beside the cute billy?

Happy Sunday!

Hello Mr Hippo!

So a week ago, I introduced Scout to Mr Hippo! (yes with the exclaimation mark).

Scout has this “security blanket” conditioning, whereby he needs to have his “ball” (a toy) in his mouth when he gets excited. Everytime anyone of us returns home, he has to go grab his ball and come greet us. He will search and search the whole house upside down inside out until he finds his any one of his toys.

So, Scout has his favourite toy aka Patrick the red doggy. But poor Patrick has been mauled, chewed on, torn and peed on, left in the garden… and he is just a mess. I decided it’s time Scout has a new Patrick kinda toy. So here comes Mr Hippo!

hello hippo!

The introduction was easy. Scout pretending to be oblivious and then slowly but firmly he took Mr Hippo! in his big big mouth.

hello hippo!

Then, almost immediately they bonded!

hello hippo!

Here in this photo below, you can see Scout enjoying the bright sunny day in our porch, with Mr Hippo! sleeping on his chest. Can you spot Mr Hippo! ?

hello hippo!

Also, if you look closely… there’s a small pillow by the pot. That’s one Scout’s “ball”.

Happy day to you all. I’m thinking of something crafty to post soon…soon soon..soon… ^_^

Hello hello

Hello friends! How are you all?

It’s been 6 months since I last posted. I’m glad to be back online. Well, it’s not that I’ve been away from the internet, but just took an extended break from blogging and sewing and crafting.

big nose

I’ve been crazy busy though. Life did not stop. In fact from mid 2011 onwards life has become much more chaotic in a good way.

There was my trips to Spain, Holland and Germany… then there was Christmas, New Year and then Chinese New Year. Now, finally things are starting to move back to its normal pace. Lent is coming, and soon Easter will be around the corner.

Oh well, my aspiration for 2012, is that firstly, I want to blog more, to fill this website with more topics other than just crafting. Of course this will still mainly be my crafting blog ^^. Then I want to cook more, eat less, and do more community work. Ok. I know it’s a very not S.M.A.R.T. goal. But hey, hobbies are meant to be silly and fun! As long as there is motivation and things get moving the right direction, everything’s A-OK !

Ok, the first change I made to this blog is that I created a Facebook page for Whimsy Loft Handmades (see it’s at the right hand corner over there —>>> ). Please please “LIKE” Whimsy Loft yes?

Wish you all a merry happy week ahead, and I will be back tomorrow!
