chic pillows for my outdoor space

Hello again! Earlier today I mentioned that I did some sewing last week.

Here’s what I sewed.

2 large and fluffy pillows and a table cloth for my “outdoor space”.

This is where I usually have my morning cuppa joe (if the weather’s not too warm). It faces my tiny little garden, and I like to “hang out” here because my dog Scout loves the garden. He chases the birds that come visit us in the mornings.

I call this place my “Outdoor Space”. Sometimes I sew here, and occasionally my Mom does the prayers here.

And by the way, I need to confess it’s the first time in my life sewing on PIPINGS… I know how it’s done, I’ve seen it done… but i haven’t done it before until these pillows! *clap hand* hehe…

A closer look:

I know I should have iron. But iron and me are not so close friend ^^

And of course, I had to show you this! I was trying out a new pattern couple of weeks back, and yay! a new handbag for me!
and a new handbag )

Now, I’m going to really enjoy my outdoor space with a cuppa green tea. I love green tea. It’s evening, it’s dark and it’s cooling after the rain this afternoon.

More coasters

So I just cannot have enough of the leafy felty non-slipy coasters!

Hahahaha!

Actually I just wanted to show you these 1st batch on non-slip leaf coasters.

They kinda became my favourite because of the printed felt, plus the non-slip is attached on with mod podge !
Yeap. Took 6 hours to dry plus lots of sticky fingers after that.

I love them.

Get them here.

Happy to take custom orders.

You can select your fabric HERE. (i’ll be adding more fabric soon!). This is for the chandelier part of the pouch.

Then I will match the lining, and the rest of the pouch will be natural linen with lace and sling chain. Lace may not be exactly the same as the photo because that depends on the supplier’s stock (but I’ll let ya know in advance what I have).

Floral pouches + FREE tissue case

Because my sewing mojo is back. Because I started listing in etsy again after a long long time…

my customers will get a matching Tissue Case for FREE when they purchase the floral pouch.

I have 4 colours – black, blue, pink and green. Each of them comes with a free matching tissue holder === a PAIR OF BEAUTY === ;-)

Coasters coasters

As promised, I said I will re-open my Etsy shop in May.
It’s now May the 3rd. I’ve started listing stuff in my shop. That also indirectly means… drum roll pleaseeeeeee…. I’ve started sewing again *wink wink*.

Fingers cross, I will have time to continue the sewing.

Frankly, I prefer taking custom orders. That way, I sew only when there is an order, and I can make it 100% to the liking of my customer a.k.a. CUSTOM MADE… hehehe…

However, listing in Etsy is good too, as it helps me get some publicity. As you know, I do not promote. Well hardly. Not even by words of mouth i.e. I don’t go around telling people I sew and I sell. If it’s mentioned then it’s mentioned. If not then it’s not said. I guess I need to improve on my networkings. :-)

This COASTERS are made of felt.
Leaf felt COASTERS Pink Green

I really love how it turned out, and so proud *shoulder pat* of myself for thinking about this.

The “coaster” idea was inspired by the need for me to use a coaster all the time as it is very humid and hot in Malaysia! My ice cold drink leaves water stain on my table all.the.time and worst it sometimes gets to my stuff on the table. Not good. So coasters come in very very handy.

The idea to use FELT came while I was cleaning my fabric cupboard. I realised I had a whole stack of felt (about a foot tall) and I do not know what to use them for! No point keeping, I need the space. So it’s more like destashing + creating.

The coasters below has a layer of non-slip material. The idea of the non-slip was also due to my spring cleaning efforts.

Leaf felt COASTERS non slip Pink Red

I found a whole 2 metres roll of non-slip, which was stashed somewhere along with other stuff which I bought for just-in-case-i-need-them-one-day. Believe me when I say it’s not easy to sew the non-slip on. I had to use tracing paper as a “go-between” my sewing maching and the felt. Not to mention, my first try was to glue (mod podge) the non-slip to the felt. It worked out well, but started out rather messy and of course I did not have the patience to wait for them to dry!

But everything worked out fine in the end. I’m Happy.

Come support me in my Etsy shop. The COASTERS are already listed, together with some cute floral pouches.

looky looky i sewed !!!

In my desperation to protect my Bible and at the same time to add some cuteness, I managed to steal an hour of my busy afternoon to make this.

bible cover

I actually had a nice fabric cover for this Bible, but that was made (by me) years ago and it was slightly worn out.

The reason for this?

Well, 2 weeks ago, I joined THE GREAT ADVENTURE. It’s a short 8-week course called “A Quick Journey Through The Bible”, by Jeff Cavins and Sarah Christmyer.

In our 1st session, Jeff Cavins mentioned in his speech that we would probably go buy ourselves a new Bibles at the begining of a new bible course or when we decided to start reading the bible, in the hope of motivating ourselves to complete (and enjoy) reading the Bible. It was a joke he made, but a rather truthful insight of human nature.

bible cover

Anyway, I’m not intending to buy a new Bible. I love my Bible, and I have journeyed with this particular Bible for many years already. It’s a nice and easy bible to read, albeit slightly huge in size. So, this new cover, is my way of communicating to my brains that I do indeed HAVE a NEW BIBLE ! ^^

The cover is made of one of my favourite fabric of nesting dolls in blue. Loving the prints!
And because I need to carry to class every week, and it’s quick a heavy book, I made it with handles… for easy carrying…

bible cover

See the ironing board behind the Bible? Well, I was prepping for a DIY project. I’ll talk about it in my next post. Meanwhile, wishing all of us a wonderful day ahead!

What’s on my mind today…

… is this lunch bag.
Lunch bags - blue

A friend called up today to ask if I can make her 3 kids each one of this bag.

The good thing is, she will provide the fabric! But I have to wait, because she just bought them from etsy, and is waiting for them to arrive at her door *fingers cross* in two weeks time!

Lunch bags

I adore these lunch bags. They take time to make, because much measuring and cutting is needed. However, ones the cutting is done the sewing is easy peasy!

Say HELLO to Scout my handsome Labrador.
eyes open
It is his habit every night that he waits for me on that exact spot to “go to his room” upstairs for the night. And being a dog, he is conditioned to do so at precisely the same time each night. The problem… I don’t go to bed the same time every night :P So, he conditioned himself to wait for me there should I choose to go to bed later than 10pm.

And most of the time, he will be snoring away on the stairway!

Sleepy Scout.

It’s my pillow! Mine!

penguin buttons!

Aren’t they cute?! Those wooden penguin buttons.

Business card case

These photos came from my custom order photo stash.

I’ve been looking through my old photos and re-organising my hard drive, doing some archiving. I realise now it’s time to get a new hard drive, much space is needed!

How to you store your photos?

Old Flames

Today, after having fallen ill for more than 1 week, I finally felt so much better. I started having sorethroat this morning, but this is so much better than having fever and bodyache and feeling tired all the time.

I was browsing through some old photos of mine, all those things I sewed in the past which I (think) I have never posted it up before.

Pencil case. I like this very much because I mixed fabric with faux leather. It wasn’t easy to sew, and one of them I actually accidently burned with an iron.

This is made from Japanese tenugui. My favourite material. Very soft, and very cute prints! Wugui (turtle). This pouch is made to keep some CDs. It was for my Dad.

And here are phone pouches. It is made to fit my iPhone4, and it fits almost all types of phones… htc, samsung galaxy… I made this for my shop, and they are all sold out now.

I’ll be back with more photos soon. And, hopefully new ones ;) . First, I need to tidy up my sewing loft. Have a nice day!

hearts

Just something random I made.

Polkadot Hearts.

I guess this can be a small placemat, or coaster, or I’ll just leave it hanging on my wall.

It needs ironing though…

So how is your day so far?

I’m starting to love Picnik the photo editing tool.
Unfortunately they are closing Picnik down in April :( boo hoo…
What kind of tools do you use to edit your photos?
