2011 started with me having to travel more often than not for work. I’ve been spending most of my time in Holland and Singapore. Hotel rooms has become my second home . After almost 7 months of intensive travelling, I am finally back home with no immediate plan to board the plane. I’m glad.

The next time I board the plane, it would be going for my long planned for vacation cum pilgramage. I’m going to Spain!!! To see the Pope !!!! And to walk 30km a day for 5 days. Yippie!

Nothing crafty done by me in this post (i’m going to correct this soon)… except that I bought myself this book :

And it comes with a kit to make my own bag! Horray!

I have this buzzing thought that I should re-arrange my fabric according to colour group. Currently they are arranged according to purchase batch (which is the easiest way). Well maybe I will

I’m back!

Such a cliche

I was in Holland at least 3 weeks in each month for the past 5 months. Had a wonderful time working plus sightseeing during the weekends.

I know I could have blogged from there, but I was too tired after work daily (tough project, trust me!).

But now I’m back with no project (until next week ).

So I fill my days with crafty projects instead.

I’ve been back home almost 2 weeks now. 

Towards the end of my trip, while I was on the plane back I kept on thinking about what to make when I came home. Miss crafting so much

I wasn’t all quiet the past 2 weeks, have been trying out a new craft. More to come soon…

Tired but happy.

They all look the same after a while, but I enjoyed myself walking in the garden and taking lots of photos!

This year is the year of the Rabbit. What cute little creatures.

The Lunar new year is a 15 day celebration and today is the 5th day.

The first 2 days was really busy for me, juggling between my day job and the festivity of the new year. Yes, I had to work during the holidays because of some urgent project. Oh well… it was ok because I worked from home, and I had a chance to recuperate during the weekends.

I created these coasters, placemats, and bowl covers just before Chinese New Year… obviously I’m inspired by the cute little bunnies.

Finally use the Lite Steam-A-Seam I bought months back. They are very easy to use and made the applique stick nicely. I love it… but it’s rather costly for me, as I needed to get them from ebay.

Other than the above, not much sewing… just spending my free time watching dvds with my Parents and playing with my dog… sempena cuti tahun baru cina (inconjunction with celebrating chinese new year).

Some totally random stuff :

Scout got a new pillow (and he lovessss it!!!). The sky blue fabric is fleece. It is very soft and nice, indeed a fabulous fabric to use for babies.

And I got myself a new netbook !! Really cool, now that I can blog & surf from MY OWN netbook and not the company provided laptop

How did your start your new year?

Mine started a little slow, initially it didn’t feel like a new year to me… but eventually after 16 days into the new year, things are starting to look brighter and I’m starting to feel that YES! this is indeed a New Year with new hopes and new dreams and looking forward for the many blessings 2011 will bring

I made this in December all through New Year.

This is the famous what most people will call “the lunch bag” type of bag.  To me it is a variation (different size) bag to my earlier version of lunch bag.

This one here measures 7? (l) x 7? (w) x 5? (h).

I will be busy {again} for a while, but I’ve got quite a lot of items I sewed up these past months and will post them on intervals when I can. Have a great week ahead !

OK. I know we all love pretty packagings. In fact it is one of the tactics in advertising. I am a sucker for pretty packagings too! I must say though that even eco-friendly packaging can cost quite a bit.

How do I package my product?

Well… economically and practically I would say!    Not eco friend *sad* and not stunningly attractive nor pretty. Just simple plastic to keep the water out and bubble wrap or foam wrap for protection. Soooooo totally plain and non-eco friendly.

I know I know… we all heart pretty little packages in the mail… but I am just so not creative in this department

This is what I use:

I splurge a little too much on topping up my stock of plastic packaging last weekend. I must say prices have increased since I last bought them. Hmmph! Oh well…

Now, my dilemma for this week is that I bought this thermal insulation sheet…

thinking to use them to insulate my food warmer (instead of using batting)… but somehowwwww I find it so hard to sew them on fabric!!! HOW???? Any advice appreciated, thanks *smile*.

I have all the other zipper sizes…16″, 8″, 6″, 5″, 20″, 36″… but noooooo 14″. Now frustrating when you need them!

Made from Japanese cotton and Japanese Tenugui (japanese towels). One of my absolute precious fabric.

This is what I’ve been up to since yesterday. Cutting and cutting lots of square blocks for a 2 projects. And I got a new rotary cutter (the blue one)!! It is small and cute… and it comes with perforated blades too! Yay!

Can you imagine.. from my many years of sewing this and that… it’s only now I started using rotary cutter. And they are super wonderful!

Oh.. did I mention… those grid rulers up there… they’re new too! My cousin Annette ordered online for me. Thanks Annette! Double YAY!

In the mean time… what’s taking up my tiny creative space are 40 spools of crystal thread… which was delivered today. They are for my other project at church ~ Rosary making ~ one of our BEC is making 1200 Rosaries to be donated to people in Russia and Afrika. Tomorrow we’re be packing them up and distributing to volunteers to make the Rosaries !

I also printed more of my Whimsy Loft labels… this time I tried a new print-on fabric from Japan. Will list this fabric in my online shops as soon as the stock comes in!

I won’t say I haven’t thought about buying a new machine, but it’s just that I haven’t thought about buying it as much as I expected to have thought about buying before I bought :p Haha…

Boy I sure have a lot to learn… upgrading from this old mama to this new baby sure made me realise that I have a huge “sewing machine generation gap” to close.

Old mama needs a rest, she’s been needing service more often than usual… but still reliable when you need her.

Now, the new babe in town is all set and ready to rat-a-tat-tat! Looks like I’m going to spend the rest of the afternoon learning how to rat-a-tat-tatting!!

First and foremost, just a few catch up notes…

A while back, I joined this Spring Fling Challenge (no, I didn’t forget about it…) and I’m happy to tell you that I manage to clear off 100 item! Yay! Coincidently, my Mom was also on an Easter Charity Challenge where she challenged herself to giveaway as many things as possible to charity for Easter. I am proud to say.. that I have given away loads of old books, extra stationeries, clothes that don’t fit me anymore, shoes… even some stuff from my kitchen like an extra oven, toaster and rice cooker! It such a wonderful feeling to be giving away to the needy… but the challenging part was that during the “decision making” process, I am always torn between my “posessive hoarder self” and “generous self”. It’s a tough process. I have not stopped here, I’m currently cleaning the other half of my wardrobe and attic… so perhaps more to giveaway?

Second update is about my little birds.

I mentioned that I was going to put these up for sale in my Etsy shop.That did not happen. I did make more, but in the end they were given away as gifts instead.

Third update… was that I won this (the most left one) and with that came a surprise gift from my friend Jace. She makes pretty stuff with yarns.
