Hello Mr Hippo!

So a week ago, I introduced Scout to Mr Hippo! (yes with the exclaimation mark).

Scout has this “security blanket” conditioning, whereby he needs to have his “ball” (a toy) in his mouth when he gets excited. Everytime anyone of us returns home, he has to go grab his ball and come greet us. He will search and search the whole house upside down inside out until he finds his any one of his toys.

So, Scout has his favourite toy aka Patrick the red doggy. But poor Patrick has been mauled, chewed on, torn and peed on, left in the garden… and he is just a mess. I decided it’s time Scout has a new Patrick kinda toy. So here comes Mr Hippo!

hello hippo!

The introduction was easy. Scout pretending to be oblivious and then slowly but firmly he took Mr Hippo! in his big big mouth.

hello hippo!

Then, almost immediately they bonded!

Here in this photo below, you can see Scout enjoying the bright sunny day in our porch, with Mr Hippo! sleeping on his chest. Can you spot Mr Hippo! ?

Also, if you look closely… there’s a small pillow by the pot. That’s one Scout’s “ball”.

Happy day to you all. I’m thinking of something crafty to post soon…soon soon..soon… ^_^

TV Show Addiction

I am a TV series person. I get baited and hooked on a certain type of genry. I like series with supernatural bits such as vampires and werewolves, and the wizards and witches type.

So, I love Merlin, Supernatural, Harry Potter (yes these are movies), Ones Upon a Time, Grimm, Ghost Whisperer… and when I start watching, I want to watch all available seasons from the begining to end, and I want to watch them all at one go. I am too impatient to wait for next week for a new episode to come out. So I usually compile them. I watch like 10 episodes (or 1 season if available) at a go. Those days are what I call “my movie marathon days”. It’s usually a day of pyjamas and comfort food, no make up, untidy unwashed hair. Oh, I so love those days. Those series takes up permanent residence in my being, for days after my movie marathon, my mind floats around as if I am part of the cast.

Recently I’m into Ones Upon a Time and Grimm. There’s a problem here. These are series are ongoing, so that means I have to wait like 1 month to get about 4 episodes to watch. Hmmph!

What are your favourite movie genry?

Cook more, right?

I mentioned that one of my aspiration is to cook more right?

Well, yes! I’ve been on a Nyonya food rampage of late. Been cooking {authentic} Penang Nyonya food since 2 weeks ago; and stalking some Nyonya restaurants to try out their food in order to compare them to mine ^^

If you don’t know what Nyonya food is, please read here and here.

My paternal Grandma was a Nyonya from Penang, and most of the dishes I cooked is what she has either taught my Mother or myself.

Here’s some of the dishes I have cooked recently:

Ondek-ondek (Glutonous rice balls filled with palm sugar):

Ayam Pongteh (chicken in fermented bean paste sauce):
Nyonya ayam pongteh

Penang Assam Laksa (noodles in fish soup):
Penang assam laksa, homemade

Sambal babi (pork in chilli paste):
Nyonya pork rib sambal

Hello hello

Hello friends! How are you all?

It’s been 6 months since I last posted. I’m glad to be back online. Well, it’s not that I’ve been away from the internet, but just took an extended break from blogging and sewing and crafting.

big nose

I’ve been crazy busy though. Life did not stop. In fact from mid 2011 onwards life has become much more chaotic in a good way.

There was my trips to Spain, Holland and Germany… then there was Christmas, New Year and then Chinese New Year. Now, finally things are starting to move back to its normal pace. Lent is coming, and soon Easter will be around the corner.

Oh well, my aspiration for 2012, is that firstly, I want to blog more, to fill this website with more topics other than just crafting. Of course this will still mainly be my crafting blog ^^. Then I want to cook more, eat less, and do more community work. Ok. I know it’s a very not S.M.A.R.T. goal. But hey, hobbies are meant to be silly and fun! As long as there is motivation and things get moving the right direction, everything’s A-OK !

Ok, the first change I made to this blog is that I created a Facebook page for Whimsy Loft Handmades (see it’s at the right hand corner over there —>>> ). Please please “LIKE” Whimsy Loft yes?

Wish you all a merry happy week ahead, and I will be back tomorrow!
